A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into the jawbone, acting as an artificial root. Once it integrates with the bone — a process called osseointegration — a natural-looking crown is attached on top, creating a tooth that looks, feels, and functions exactly like a real one.

Unlike dentures or bridges, an implant stands completely on its own. It does not rely on neighbouring teeth for support, and it stimulates the jawbone in the same way a natural root would, preventing bone loss over time.

Consultation & imaging

We take a full 3D CBCT scan to assess bone volume, nerve position, and overall oral health. This guides every decision that follows.

Implant placement

The titanium post is placed under local anaesthetic. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.

Healing period

Over 2 to 4 months, the implant fuses with the jawbone. During this time you can continue eating and living normally.

Crown placement

A custom-made ceramic crown is attached to the implant. Your new tooth is complete — and built to last a lifetime.

Is this the right treatment for you?

Dental implants are an excellent option for most adults who are missing one or more teeth and have sufficient jawbone density. They are not suitable for patients who are still growing, and require careful evaluation in patients with certain medical conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes or active gum disease. During your consultation, we will assess your bone structure, gum health, and overall medical history to confirm whether implants are the right choice — and if not, we will discuss the alternatives that are.

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you will not feel pain during the procedure. Some patients experience mild discomfort and swelling in the days that follow, which is well managed with standard pain relief. Most people find it significantly less uncomfortable than they anticipated.

From consultation to final crown, the process typically takes 3 to 6 months. The majority of that time is the healing period, during which you do not need to come in for appointments. The actual surgical appointment and the crown fitting are both relatively short procedures.

The titanium implant post is designed to be permanent and can last a lifetime with proper care. The ceramic crown on top may eventually need replacing after 15 to 20 years, depending on how it is cared for. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are the most important factors in implant longevity.

In many cases, yes. Bone grafting can rebuild the jawbone before implant placement. This is assessed during your 3D imaging appointment. Not every case requires grafting, and not every case is suitable — we will be honest with you about what is and is not possible for your specific situation.
